Third Sector is the UK’s leading publication for everyone who needs to know what’s going on in the voluntary and not-for-profit sector. Every year, they run a prestigious awards programme. This year’s ceremony is on Thursday 20 September 2018 and Beyond Recovery is entered in the Big Impact category.
Here’s a summary of our entry:
Beyond Recovery is a social enterprise with a vision to revolutionise the way addiction and mental health is viewed and treated. In three years we have grown exponentially by serving a community of offenders with particularly difficult circumstances or needs (including mental health & addiction). We have grown and developed a strong reputation for our effectiveness and dedication. Even being asked to present at a number of international conferences about our work!
Most importantly is the impact we have had on the men we have worked with. Some have overcome severe difficulties and mental health issues to realise that there own solutions reside within their own mind and that they can find peace of mind and happiness. This impact creates a strong ripple effect on everyone around them including their families, children and fellow inmates. They feel connection and compassion and are able to be creative and drop many of the behaviours and beliefs they previously held. Our simple approach works with all human beings and enables people to see past their own thought created prisons and develop the resilience and mental health that are natural to everyone. This in turn provides surprising solutions to seemingly intangible problems.
The finalists will be announced at the end of July.
