A special radio programme focusing on Beyond Recovery’s work aired on National Prison Radio for the first time last month. The programme, which was hosted by radio presenter, Brenda Birungi, is due to be aired again this week. Brenda, who goes by the stage name Lady Unchained, is also a talented poet. (Click here to watch her brilliant Ted Talk ‘Proving there is life after prison one poem at a time.’)

Beyond Recovery has received numerous requests for its inspirational ‘Distance Learning Packs’ since the programme aired. This indicates that it has reached many people in prison with its message of support and optimism.

You can listen to Brenda chatting to Jacqueline Hollows (‘Mama J’), Derrick Mason and Omar Wilson of Beyond Recovery below.

Jacqueline Hollows, founder of Beyond Recovery, said: “We loved our conversation with Brenda, who is such an inspirational and influential person in her own right. We’re also grateful for the opportunity to be heard across the National Prison Radio network.  I don’t doubt that Derrick and Omar’s incredible stories will greatly impact people in prison and beyond. I’m so proud of them both for sharing in their own open and eloquent way.”
